KINDERGOTH Vol. 1 TRADE PAPERBACK AVAILABLE AT THE SAN DIEGO COMIC CON 2010!

Acclaimed independent publisher BloodFire Studios is pleased to announce the first Kindergoth Trade Paperback, available at the BloodFire Studios booth (#1621) at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire the complete collection of the Kindergoth series that has grown in popularity since it was first released in 2002. This book features work by accomplished writer Len Wien (Wolverine, X-Men, Titans, Batman), Lucas artist Lee Kohse (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones), Jeff Zugale (Elf Quest), and Joel Adams (King of the Hill, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Incredible Hulk).

This edition includes:

In conjunction with this release, BloodFire Studios will hold autograph sessions during Comic Con featuring several of the writers and artists who have contributed to the success of the Kindergoth series. Signings will include:

• Series creator, Lee Kohse (Friday and Saturday from 11am to 1pm)
• Inker, Joel Adams (Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 3pm)

All signings will be held at the BloodFire booth, #1621 located in Hall ‘C’ of the San Diego Convention Center.

Comic-Con?  Dragon Con?  Wonder Con? So many cons! That’s great and all, if you’re a comic book fan.  But what if you like the darker side of pop culture: mummies, Bela Lugosi, and Elvira? Well, stop looking at the cons and check out this pro: Creation Entertainment is once again resurrecting their Weekend of Horrors this month, May 21^st to May 23^rd.

The Weekend of Horrors is a three day horror extravaganza, catering to all you slasher fans, classic monster lovers, and gorehounds.   This year, the convention is moving back to a hotel location (Marriott LAX in Los Angeles), which will be filled wall to wall with great gruesome goodies: movie posters, masks, props, shirts, books…pretty much anything you’re looking for.  But that’s just the vendor side of things.

Like any good con, the Weekend of Horrors has a huge variety of great superstar guests.  This year’s most noticeable on the roster include the amazing Robert Englund of Nightmare on Elm Street fame and master horror director Dario Argento!  And what’s a good con without some great panels?  You can check out an amazing 25^th anniversary Re-Animator reunion, featuring Stuart Gordon and Jeffrey Combs and a Hatchet 2 sneak peak.  If you’re a slasher fan, be sure to look into the panels on your favorite killers: Michael Meyers, Jason Voorhees, and  Freddy Krueger.  Plus, if you like the role playing, check out the horror costume contest on Saturday and the massive zombie walk on Friday!  Phew!  There’s more gruesome fun than you can shake a machete at!

Kick-Ass is in theaters April 16th...which we have already previewed and enjoyed the hell out of!  Danny & Matt will be giving us their review very soon…their coming down from their “Kick-Ass” high.

Last week it was announced that Stan “The Man” Lee would be the guest of honor at the very first Los Angeles’ Rock’n Roll Comic Con at the Pasadena Convention Center. And not only is he the guest of honor, but he’s also leading a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which is exciting because I’d really love to see Smilin’ Stan cutting ribbon with a giant pair of scissors.

In the same press release the Rock’n Comic Con also announced that Jim Steranko will be joining Stan Lee in a Marvel Comics 70^th anniversary retrospective panel, which should be amusing for people interested in Marvel history (i.e. me).

I’ll spare you any explanation of who Stan Lee is, but if you haven’t heard of Jim Steranko, he’s a wonderful artist most famous for his psychedelic run on Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the ‘60s. If you look at his art, it was clear he did drugs. Wonderful guy. And if you like Raiders of the Lost Ark like any human being does, then you should know Steranko did a lot of design work on the film, including designing Indiana Jones himself.

Over the years I’ve gone back and forth on Stan Lee — it’s as easy to question the amount of credit he gets versus those his co-creators get for creating the Marvel Universe as it is to fall in love with his friendly Walt Disney huckster persona — but I’ve ultimately come to the conclusion that he’s a lovable guy with the greatest Twitter on Earth: http://twitter.com/SmilinStanLee

Stan fans who can make the trek to Pasadena probably should, since The Man is apparently reducing the amount of signing he does this year. So this might be your only chance to get an autograph from Stan the Man in 2010 unless you pre-order tickets for Wizard World Pakistan.

Anyway, I’m not quite sure what this Rock’n Comic Con is (besides another Con in an already cluttered convention season) or what’s so Rock’n about it. Apparently, the Con is presenting a nighttime performance by Flock of Seagulls and When in Rome, which makes Rock’n Comic Con sound more like a state fare and less like a comic convention. I’m just curious about whether the Seagulls will still have that fantastic hair.

The Los Angeles Rock’n Comic Con begins on Friday, May 28^th, 2010 and lasts until Sunday, May 30^th.
