True Blood #1 Gets Second Printing

Looks like you guys like IDW Publishing’s new True Blood comic, huh? ‘Cause the first issue, with a print run of 53,000 copies, totally sold out. To sate your thirst for bloodthirsty vampires, IDW is going to release a second printing. That’ll be in stores on August 25th, 2010.

The second issue came out a week before on August 18th.

The plot of the current story arc sounds pretty interesting: our protagonists are stuck in Merlotte’s waiting for a storm to clear up and — what do you know — there’s some supernatural entity who feeds of people’s emotions and kills the people inside one by one. Sounds like fun.

True Blood creator Alan Ball and series writers Elisabeth Finch and Kate Barnow came up with the plot and threw it over to frequent Howard Chaykin collaborator David Tischman and Mariah Huehner, who I am unfamiliar with. David Messina drew it. There are a few variant covers, so look out for that if that’s your thing.

I haven’t read the book yet, but I’m curious enough. The show has its moments and I like comic books. Howzabout throwing us a review copy, IDW?
