Justice League: Cry for Justice #1

Rating: Justice League: Cry for Justice #1 - rating

Ladies and gentlemen, a rundown of the events in Justice League: Cry For Justice #1 (James Robinson/Mauro Cascioli):

-Green Lantern has a nervous breakdown in front of an ill-defined group of superheroes (sometimes Plastic Man is there, sometimes it’s Firestorm). He then storms out in a big green bubble, shrieking about justice.

Sample dialogue balloon: “I WANT JUSTICE.”

-Two scientists with the power to shrink beat up a bunch of drunks in a bar, one of whom is conspicuously dressed like a supervillain. One scientist shrinks down (the shrinking superhero equivalent of storming out), shrieking about justice.

Sample dialogue balloon: “…JUSTICE!”

-Blue-skinned guy in fresh white sneakers goes to a funeral parlor and then blows up a moving vehicle in mournful rage. The omniscient narrator doesn’t seem to have a problem with that. There is no room to storm out of, so the blue-skinned guy just storms away from the motorists he just murdered. Now the narrator gets to shriek about justice.

Sample narration box: “–JUSTICE!”

-A talking gorilla (described by the narrator as “a man”) sits in a field of dead gorillas. The “new” B’Wana Beast, who hasn’t been in a comic book since 1989, walks in and keels over. There is also no room to storm out of, so he tries to bound off the page towards us, shrieking about justice.

Sample dialogue ballon: “I WANT JUSTICE!”

There are three more characters to introduce, so expect another issue of that followed by the requisite punching and teeth-gritting. DC Comics thanks you for your $3.99.
